Calico Ghost Town has a rich history that goes back to 1880’s. In its heyday, there were 500 mines and that produce over $200 million dollars in silver ore in only a 12 year period. In the mid-1890’s the town dried up and became a “ghost town.” In the 1950’s it was bought by Walter Knott. Knott resorted the architecture of the Calico and gave visitors an amazing look at what mining towns were like in the late 1800’s.  Since that time the town received State historical Landmark 782 and was proclaimed to be California’s Silver Rush Ghost Town.

    Camping for Special Event Weekends is subject to special event weekend pricing.

    Guests who camp, rent cabins, bunk house or mini bunkhouse receive free admission into the town.  During special event weekends, camping guests also receive free admission to the event weekend for up to four persons per site.  Additional persons per site will be charged the individual admission price.

    Camping for Special Event Weekends is subject to special event weekend pricing.

    Group Camping

    For groups of 20 or more people (per night) is $5 per person per night for tent camping only. There is a onetime $20 non-refundable reservation deposit and a camping deposit of $30 per site required at the time of booking. Upon arrival at Calico a ranger will take a people count and multiply the number of people by 5 (if 2 nights by 10). The ranger will then deduct the deposit and you will pay the remaining balance owed. Example: for 20 people for 2 nights the fee is $200 for camping. If the camping deposit is $150, you will owe $50 upon arrival at Calico.

    For less than 20 people it is $30 per site. Each site is restricted to 1 vehicle, 1 tent and 4 people. Each additional vehicle is $10 per night, each tent is $5 per night and each additional person over 4 is $8 per night.

    Group reservations may not be scheduled the Friday prior to or during event weekends.

    Facilities Rental

    The Silver Bowl, School House, Campground Amphitheater or Livery Stage areas are available for rental for weddings and special events.  The following is the rate schedule:

    • Up to 49 people $150.00/use
    • 50 to 75 people $250.00/use
    • 76 to 100 people $350.00/use

     

    CANCELLATION POLICY:

    When “Transferring a site on the same date at the same park

    • No charge, regardless of the date

    When “Transferring a site to a different date at the same park”

     

    ·       31 days or more prior to arrival date  – additional reservation fee will be charged

    ·       30-11 days prior to arrival date – 50% of the use fee will be charged.  Holidays/Special Events – first full night on 2 night minimum reservations will be charged.

    ·       10-1 days prior to arrival date or mid-reservation –  full use fee will be charged  Holidays/Special Events – first two full nights on 2 night minimum reservations will be charged.

    Cancellation policy: $10 Cancellation Fee plus the original reservation fee will be charged if your cancellation is received 31 or more days prior to your arrival date. 50% of the first night fee plus the original reservation fee will be charged if your cancellation is received 30-11 days prior to your arrival date. Holidays/Special events – first full night on 2 night minimum reservations plus the original reservation fee  will be charged if your cancellation is received 30 – 11 days prior to your arrival date.  FULL first night fee will be charged if your cancellation is received less than 11 days prior to your arrival date or mid-reservation. Holidays/Special events – first two full nights on 2 night minimum reservations plus the original reservation fee will be charged if your cancellation is received less than 11 days prior to your arrival date.  Changes in Reservation dates made less than 31 days prior to your arrival date are subject to cancellation fees. Changes in Reservation dates made 31 or more days prior to your arrival date are subject to a new reservation fee.

    *Original Reservation fee – This is the original reservation fee that was charged when the customer made the original reservation.  No additional reservation fee should be charged.
